Press Coverage Corrections
Updated 2 February 2000
Oops!: I8 February 1999: I've heard, though haven't confirmed, that it was reported that the fuselage was stuck at some point during the transport on the public roads or on the Denfeld property. But this was never the case - the move went extremely well, and progress was never interrupted except for rest periods for the crews, and due to a later than expected allowable Max Light Rail crossing time. With the aircraft safely off the public roads, we did break Saturday morning due to crew exhaustion, but continued with the transport up the Denfeld's driveway Sunday morning, completing that task by the end of the day. The move was a masterful ballet on a grand scale, and the load was never in trouble. If there was a factual reporting error, it was probably my fault in that Saturday morning I gave a couple of interviews practically in my sleep, and was only marginally coherent or for that matter only marginally conscious. I probably simply said something that was misleading or just plain wrong. Sorry about that.
Though I wasn't able to review all the other media coverage, most everything else I have seen has been accurate and, to me, impressive. Overall the press has in my view related the essence of the project well, and they've managed to generate solid and interesting stories in spite of the lame interviews I often provide. The project has benefited from professional reporting, skilled camera work, good taste, and a sense of fun, and I thoroughly enjoyed this element of the adventure.
Any press folks should feel free to contact me on any of the numbers or addresses below to add my understanding to their information checks. I try to have the cell phone with me at all times, even when in the bowels of the aircraft, though there are some exceptions (occasionally I misplace it). You can voice call any day, and at any non sleeping time.
